The search page allows you to search for listings in the Materials Exchange using up to six search criteria. You can choose to search listings that meet all or any of your criteria. The search criteria are: 

• Available or Wanted: Use this criterion to limit your search to Available or Wanted materials. 
• Date: Selecting a range of dates limits your search to current listings posted during the specified period. 
• Listing ID#: This is a unique ID number assigned to each listing in the Materials Exchange. Entering a listing ID will limit your search to this criterion only. 
• Material Name: Enter words found in the name of the material. You can enter words using Boolean syntax in order to broaden or narrow your search. Here's how that works: 
  • Entering cotton AND rags will return listings with both "cotton" or "rags" in the Material Name
  • Entering cotton OR rags will return listings with either "cotton" or "rags" in the Material Name
  • Entering "cotton rags" will return listings with the entire phrase "cotton rags" in the Material Name
  • Entering cott* will return listings with any word beginning with "cott" in the Material Name
  It is also possible to combine several Boolean functions in the same search.
• Category: Use the drop-down menu to select one of 17 material categories. 
• Borough and City: Select the borough and/or city where the listing is located. 
• Search Condition: Selecting "All of the above" will produce search results that meet all of the criteria you have chosen. Selecting "Any of the above" will produce results that meet one or more of the criteria you have chosen.
