|
NY Wa$teMatch manages a citywide materials exchange, provides technical assistance with solid waste reduction and environmentally preferable purchasing, and conducts informal research and development projects. Our program’s participants include New York City businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.
NY Wa$teMatch is operated by the NYC Materials Exchange Development Program (MEDP) at the City College of New York. MEDP aims to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of materials exchange and reuse activities in New York City, and to increase access to these innovative waste prevention services.
Funding for general support of MEDP and NY Wa$teMatch is provided by the New York City Department of Sanitation’s Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling. NY Wa$steMatch has also received general funding from Empire State
Development's Environmental Services Unit and project-specific funding from the US Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA), Region 2. The US EPA's Region 2 office provided support for the development of the NY Wa$teMatch Web site and funded the program's former deconstruction and green building project.
From 1997 to 2006 NY Wa$teMatch was operated by the Industrial & Technology Assistance Corporation (ITAC), a non-profit organization providing productivity, profitability, and growth solutions to the manufacturing and technology sectors in New York City.
